8T Steel Plate Lifting Magnets for Transformer Manufacturing

In the transformer manufacturing industry, precise handling and movement of heavy steel plates are critical for ensuring production efficiency and maintaining safety standards. A leading manufacturer of transformers faced challenges with their existing lifting methods, which were often cumbersome and posed risks to both the equipment and personnel. Objective

The objective was to design and implement a set of electro-permanent lifting magnets capable of safely handling steel plates with a total weight of up to 8 tons (8,000 kg). The solution needed to address the following requirements:

- Efficient handling of large steel plates.

- Reliable performance in a high-demand manufacturing environment.

- Safe operation with minimal risk of load drop.




We designed a customized electro-permanent lifting magnet system composed of 10 individual magnetic modules. Each module was engineered to handle a lifting capacity of 1 ton (1,000 kg), resulting in a total safe working load (SWL) of 8 tons when all modules are used in conjunction.
The electro-permanent lifting magnet system was installed and integrated into the transformer manufacturing plant’s existing overhead crane system. Our team provided comprehensive training for the plant's operators and maintenance staff to ensure smooth operation and adherence to safety protocols.


Results

The implementation of the electro-permanent lifting magnet resulted in significant improvements for the transformer manufacturer:
