30T Steel Plate Lifting Magnet for Various Specification Plate Handling

A steel service center needed a solution for handling multiple thick steel plates in their production facility. Their operations required moving various specification plates weighing up to 30 tons. The existing system using traditional lifting equipment caused frequent production delays due to the time-consuming process of separating accidentally picked-up multiple plates.

Customized Lifting Solution

We developed a specialized electro permanent lifting magnet system mounted on a custom-designed beam. The system features an integrated cable reel for clean cable management and is specifically engineered for dual-hook overhead cranes. A PLC control box enables seamless integration with the facility's smart crane system. The lifting capacity reaches 30 tons, capable of handling either a single 28mm thick plate or up to six 6.4mm plates simultaneously.



The system's adjustable magnetic force allows operators to select the exact strength needed for each lifting task. When handling multiple thin plates, the magnet provides sufficient force to securely lift the entire stack. For single-plate operations, the precisely controlled magnetic field prevents any unwanted pickup of additional plates beneath the target piece. This eliminates the need for manual plate separation, significantly reducing handling time.
The PLC-controlled system enables selective plate release during unloading. Operators can deposit an entire stack at the target location, then release plates individually as needed for processing. The intelligent control maintains consistent grip on remaining plates while cleanly releasing the desired piece, with no accidental plate drops or shifts.


Since implementation, the steel center has achieved 40% faster plate handling operations. The elimination of manual plate separation has reduced labor requirements and improved workplace safety.
