Why do we HVR recommend the electro permanent magnetic chuck for vertical lathe machine? Vertical lathe is mainly used for processing large diameter, short lengths of large, heavy workpieces and workpieces that are not easy to be clamped on a horizontal lathe. During processing, vertical lathe will use the electro permanent magnetic chuck to clamp the workpiece. Here are some reasons for the recommendation.
The advantages of electro permanent magnetic chuck for vertical lathe machine:
1. The unique design of variable cross-section magnetic pole structure ensures that the suction force increases gradually with the increase of the outer diameter. The double magnetic circuit design, magnetic field superposition, and T-slot design, can all be easily padded with overmagnetic blocks (users can make their own shaped overmagnetic blocks according to the shape of the suction surface of the workpiece, so that the suction surface can be clamped even if it is curved).
2. The electro permanent magnetic chuck can produce a strong clamping force of up to 16kg/cm², which does not decay with time; the magnetic lines are evenly distributed in the entire contact area between the mold and the chuck, and the magnetic depth of action is within 16mm, the magnetic lines will not penetrate the surface of the machined part, and will not magnetize the tool or the machine spindle, which will not affect the accuracy of machining and chip removal.
3. The electro permanent magnetic chuck only uses electric power during the 0.6-3 seconds of clamping or releasing the workpiece, relying on the permanent magnetic force to adsorb the workpiece in the clamping state. And the disk is in a completely non-electric operation, avoiding the danger of the workpiece moving and falling off when the power is suddenly cut off or the connection cable is damaged. Compared with the ordinary electric magnetic chuck, the electro permanent magnetic chuck is energy-saving and has a low operating cost.
4. A simple button, takes only 0.6-3 seconds to complete the clamping or releasing of the workpiece independently. One clamping can realize the 5-axis processing, with automatic demagnetization when releasing the workpiece. Medium-low carbon steel materials can achieve zero residual magnetism, with no need to use a demagnetization device.
In addition to the vertical lathe, the electro permanent magnetic chuck developed and produced by HVR MAG can also be used in combination with CNC five-axis precision indexing equipment and CNC five-axis integrated cutting machine, etc. It adopts a circular radioactive magnetic pole structure, which is suitable for clamping round and any other shape workpieces. This is why most of the vertical lathe machining centers are equipped with electro-permanent magnetic chucks.
