HVR MAG sometimes receives inquiries about the use of electro-permanent magnets under special conditions. Today we‘ll talk about the inquiry about a HVR magnetic gripper for 900℃ working temperature. Generally, the electro-permanent magnets will decay no more than 5% for more than 10 years under room temperature. While the high temperature does affect the magnetic properties of electric permanent magnets. When the temperature is too high, magnets will lose magnetism.
The inquiry about magnetic gripper for high temperature:
The inquiry shared in this article was from a manufacturing company. It mainly engages in electromechanical equipment, general-purpose equipment, and special equipment in Eastern China. The customer learned on the Internet that HVR MAG can provide customized electro-permanent magnet solutions according to customers’ working conditions. They wanted to handle steel-forged pipes. Features of the forged pipes are wall thickness 2-3cm, diameter 73-200mm, length 300-660mm, weight 100KG, and cycle 10 seconds. The temperature of the steel tube out of the forging furnace is as high as about 900℃, which is beyond the reach of the current technology in terms of electro-permanent magnets.
How high a temperature can the HVR magnetic gripper accommodate?
HVR Magnetics has done high-temperature projects at 650℃. Our engineer adopted a water cooling system to keep the magnet at a safe working temperature. But 900 Celsius degrees is fatal for the electro-permanent magnet since it could be damaging to the magnetism in such a high-temperature environment.
With the growing awareness of high technology and the pursuit of efficient production, more and more companies are welcoming and recognizing electro-permanent magnets. Especially after using it, the field staff is often convinced and attracted by its high efficiency and safety features.
Although there are still some working conditions in which the electro-permanent magnetic gripper is not applicable, this will also become a motivation for people to innovate and move forward. With the continuous progress of technology, HVR Magnetics will step up the research and development of electro-permanent magnets for more environments to meet the majority of customers’ needs and solve user problems.
It doesn’t matter if we can develop a HVR magnetic gripper for 900℃ working temperature in the future. Or maybe some other new material handling tool wins the market for high-temperature handling. HVR MAG will focus on the market needs and the electro-permanent magnet. Our goal has always been to satisfy our customers with better and more cost-effective magnetic products, for lifting solutions, automated material handling, and for quick mold clamping systems.
