Electromagnetic gripper is a type of end effector mounted at the end of the robotic arm, that can catch and transfer steel parts or ferrous materials in automated assembly operations. Below is an example of magnetic gripper for robotic pick and place of round bar in workshop.
The small piece of yellow rectangular magnet part is the gripping head we’re talking about. It’s PLC programmed with the robot.
How Does The Magnetic Gripper Work?
This is a permanent electromagnet gripper, switched on/off by a brief electric pulse. Small piece of magnet, with strong and stable magnetic gripping force, ideal robotic gripper choice for handling ferrous materials and workpieces.
One thing that many engineers doesn’t know about, is that our electromagnetic gripper DOES NOT consume power in gripping state. It only uses electricity momentarily in MAG and DEMAG phase, to switch the magnetic gripping force ON and OFF.
HVR MAG can tailor design and manufacture electromagnetic grippers to suit various robotic pick and place applications. Learn more about this robot end effector, search it on our blog page.
